Fan Response from Yaesu FT710
emailed tech support about the constant annoying fan noise. I timed it, fan starts 8 to 10 minutes after power on with NO transmit. Never turns off. It is really loud and annoying.The answers received were frankly, BS. They don't want to admit the issue. Asked me about "ambient temp" and what modes I was using. Explained AGAIN it is receive only and no transmitting was done. In an air conditioned shack. I think we are stuck with it for now.
I noted the fan issue in one of my videos. The fan turns on at power up and stays on for approximately 28 out of every 30 minutes. I watched it for 2 hours, receive only. I spoke with Rodger in tech support. He surmised that the transceiver needs realignment. But this one is on loan from HRO, to film my tutorial series. It will go back to HRO.
Well, to all you experts and thermal engineers: The rig was returned from Yaesu and the problem was solved. Zero fan noise now. Radio has been on for over an hour on RX and silent as a church mouse.
If your 710 fan starts up and makes an annoying tone on receive, send it back. It is fixable.
