Basic question from someone who has not used RTTY since the surplus terminal days in early 70s.
Do
I need special hardware, Terminal or interface, to transmit and receive
RTTY with the FT-710? Or is there some software similar to WSJT that
will let me do it with the radio and software?
Working FT-8 with
FT-710 and WSJT-X was so easy. Never tried FT-8 before but got WAS
confirmed and 60 countries confirmed in four weeks.
Download FLDIGI,
there are a lot of modes and it will work as per wsjtx - but not at the
same time (they'll fight over the CAT control).

There
are others - I have just stopped doing ARRL RU RTTY contest and used
FLDIGI's engine linked up to N1MM+ logger. They work well together.
I have been using MMTTY with my FTDX10 & FTdx101mp with great results, I have just purchased the 710 to do a comparrison and once it arrives RTTY will be one of the first modes I try. I will report back with an update once the rig arrives
