Using JTDX, he has RX and CAT, testing the PTT forces the 710 to be "busy" but nothing comes out, power output is "0". JTDX audio settings have been reviewed and are OK, so it seems there is a misconfiguration at the radio side.
Can anyone provide the configuration for the 710 if audio is using USB com3 (enhanced port) and "CAT" is using the same port for PTT?
Any help for other configurations for PTT (VOX or RTS) is also fine. Please, detail the radio mode (DATA-U, USB...) to be used.
Options for audio (PC sound control panel) were "16 bits/48000Hz/DVD quality" on RX and TX. As RX was working fine this was not changed before. Tested "16 bits/44100Hz/CD quality" and RX and TX are working. Curiously RX works with any selection, but not TX.
I've experienced no issues whatever with FT8. I do not use the "PRESET", but allow WSJT-X to configure the radio. It works just fine.
I had difficulty with the RX data level presented to wsjt-x. I found out
that if I used the FT8 PROFILE and set the USB levels down to 50 that
FT8 seemed to perform well. I was never sure that I had 0.0db ALC because the meter just rested on zero.
My settings for WSJT-X with the FT-710, using the rig's internal
sound card.
Radio. FT-991
Port. Com 14 (On my PC this is the standard port of the FT-710. Enhanced port 15 is used for logging)
Baud. 4800
Data Bits. 8
Stop Bits. 1
Handshake. Default
PTT. CAT
Mode. None
Split. Fake it
I hope that is of some use to you.
CAT works with a number of Yaesu models and speed can go up to 38400.
Right
now the problem is (my guess) in the 710's configuration. Beside it
there are a 897 and a 450, both using the rear DATA connection. The
configuration for both have been reviewed and "translated" after reading
the manual to 710 configuration, of course changing the connection from
REAR to USB. It seems that something is missing or there is a
misunderstanding, because the 710 changes to TX but power output is 0.
Tested
also with WSJT and the voice keyer avalaible in Logger32, the 710
changes to TX but no power output. Selecting a external USB sound card, I
can hear the outgoing audio, so as I wrote before, my guess is that
something is missing in my configuration.
